The project "Cross-Border Cooperation Smart Energy" (CBCSmartEnergy (2SOFT / 1.2 / 52) is implemented and funded within the framework of the Joint Operational Program Romania-Ukraine 2014-2020. The project partners are "Stefan cel Mare" University of Suceava", SHEI Uzhhorod National University” and the International Association of Regional Development Institutions (Ukraine).

The main objective of the project is to Increase the usage of new technologies and innovations in the field of renewable energy by means of providing promotion and support to research and innovations in the border regions of Ukraine and Romania. As well as the establishment of a strong platform for joint research activities and studies in the field of renewable energy and resource efficiency.

On Thursday, October 1, 2020, project representatives met with students of the Faculty of Engineering, who have got a new discipline in their curriculum "Energy Management with Energy Audit".

Valentyn Ivanytskyi, a professor responsible for supervising students’ research work within the project, shared how UzhNU students would be involved in the project: “We will share theoretical knowledge with our students by delivering lectures. In practice, the Energy Laboratory and the Center for Innovative Energy at Uzhhorod National University will be established. Students will travel to communities, villages to promote energy saving policy, and basic methods of energy saving, which are available to every family, school, kindergarten or any other public place. We will also purchase equipment so that students can study energy audit, which includes processing materials, generating a report, giving recommendations for reducing energy consumption. In the future we are planning to open a separate specialty related to energetics.

Thus, as a result of the project, its participants want to achieve the following results (some points have already been completed): creation of a SmartEnergy web platform, energy audit of 3 local communities and 3 buildings of Uzhhorod National University, creation of the Innovative Energy Center and Energy Laboratory at Uzhhorod National University, introduction of a new course for students "Energy Management with Energy Audit", renovation of the lighting system in one of the buildings of Uzhhorod National University, and purchase of a thermal imager and installation of new meters.
